Back At The Crashpad - Billy No Mates Makes Friends With Patrick Morley!

The World is your Lobster and ever since I saw the advert on BBC, I thought it was a wicked concept, Crashpadder is a well put together site - Dan programs the whole thing himself and does really Love his business and it shows in his work.

Dan did get me over the problems I had with the Gribbin Troll, when I got back from Dubai the place was OK, it's not a Ritz Carlton Hotel or the Four Seasons Hotel by any sort of stretch of the imagination, it is however much cheaper than the Clarendon Hotel in Blackheath its a £20 Crashpad and the parking is great, you can use the Internet and I don't bother you...

My negative experience with Crashpadder and the Alyson Gribbin Troll was handled well by Dan but I had to sign up to Crashpadder again to get rid of the bad vibes caused by the old boot and I did learn from the experience.

However I lost all my friends on Crashpadder and my Response Rate that I worked hard for, now I have to link the rest of the photo's up again, which is boring and a bit long

Within a day I got a message which made me laugh and change my profile photo, so big shout out to Patrick Morley on the Crashpadder he had no mates either, check out the email and hopefully show how to transform it into a booking.

Dear Tim,

I am a recent graduate of Bournemouth University and have just been offered 4 days work experience with Empire Magazine.

I’d need to be at the 02 Arena from the 10th to the 14th of August so am looking primarily for short stay accomodation for around 5 nights (9-14th.)

My budget is around 15 pound per night as the work is unpaid and after finishing Univeristy I am struggling a little to make ends meet. I know this less than what you had advertised for but I figured there was no harm in messaging just in case you needed somebody!

I’m not sure if your room is still available but if so then I’m definitely interested. I guess if it were me renting out my room I’d be a bit apprehensive about potential guests so I just want to reassure you that I’m an incredibly respectful and tidy person and always strive to be polite. I am also a non-smoker.

I realise the more I type the more it sounds like a dating profile so will leave it there but hope to hear from you soon!

If you need to know anything else than please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards

Patrick

Ok I check out the profile and decide to change my own photo and whilst trying to backlink to both Crashpadder profiles I have now been friended by Patrick, Nice One Centurion!

Crashpadder Nightmare - Alyson Gribbin Cheapskate Crashpadder Troll

Here are some tips on how to avoid a nightmare guest like Alyson Gribbin, do not be afraid to cancel a crashpadder booking because it may save you in the long run.

I have had quite a good experiance with Crashpadders up until I recieved a booking from Alyson Gribbin, who to my mind is a cheap and evil troll, whenever you are in a situation it is important to look at yourself first before being mean about other people.

I would warn anyone against renting to Alyson Gribbin as she is a very nasty person who tells lies for money and causes problems and its not worth the few quid you make from Crashpadder for the agrovation that this troll will cause you!

I hope this post will make other Crashpadders aware of some of the things to watch for to avoid letting a nasty person into their homes and lives.

Crashpadder is a community and has a spirit of being helpfull and saving money, Alyson Gribbin fails to see this and is just plain evil in my book!

Here is what I learnt from allowing Alyson Gribbin into my home, which I regret.

  • Do not rent to anyone on Crashpadder that does not have a proper profile with a photo!
If the Crashpadder does not have a real profile with a photo, OK they maybe hiddiously ugly like Alyson Gribbin or have something else to hide.
  • Do not rent to anyone on Crashpadder who does not reply to your emails or phone calls!
If after accepting a booking the Crashpadder does not answer your calls or emails, you may think there is something suspicious, It does not take long to set up a fake email and personality in order to gain access to your home.

A real person will answer emails and respond to phonecalls - Alyson Gribbin did not and I blame myself for not canceling the booking.
  • Do not rent to anyone on Crashpadder if you cannot be there to meet them!
Crashpadder is a good way to rent out a room or a flat on a short term basis, I had to leave the country for work and decided to honour the booking, as I was not there to meet the Gribbin troll my nextdoor neighbour let it into my home - BIG MISTAKE!

The best advice I can give to anyone thinking of renting a room through Crashpadder is be there to meet your guest. You can refuse to let them stay if you think they are doddgey in anyway! Be aware of this and do not be scared to refuse entry to unsavoury people like Alyson Gribbin.
  • Do not take payment via Paypal (it's not your pal)
You can be charged back via Paypal if your guest complains, this will not happen if you use your bank! Also you save on the Paypal fee's.

Crashpadder admin were not very helpfull after my problems with Alyson Gribbin, which I was a bit dissapointed with, I feel that they earn their 10% (fairly) from me everytime I rent my room, ultimatly if you have a nasty, maladjusted old boot like the Gribbin tell lies about you and your home to claim back £20 the admin should side with the Crashpadder that is making them money by opening their home.

It is hurtfull and upsetting when people tell lies about you and your home, it is worse if things go missing and the admin does not support you as well as taking the money used to gain access to your home back from you!

Joining Crashpadder; Why I Joined & My Experiance With Crashpadder So Far...

Thinking about Joining Crashpadder to rent out a spare room?

It was around the time of the Royal Wedding that I saw a feature on BBC World about people in London renting out rooms for a sort time through a website called "Crashpadder" so I thought I would try renting out my spare room to pay the mortgage.

My Nana Betty who brought me up died on the 5th of September 2010 and my home needed a lot of work to bring it up to standard, I had to take 4 layers of wallpaper of each wall and redecorate before I could rent any of the rooms out!

I had just finished decorating the biggest bedroom when I saw the program about crashpadder so I decided to test the waters before I had even put a bed in the room. I thought that I would put the room up for £20 a night with a double futon to see what the market for short term rentals with crashpadder was.

It was very easy to put the room up for rent to crashpadders using a photo I took of the view from my kitchen window!

I created a profile of me so that crashpadders can see who I am and a profile for my room or padthat I want to rent in under 5 minutes and the whole thing was live on the Internet ready to rent!

I then signed up for the real time updates and responded to any upcoming short stay trips to London within a week I had my first booking!

My first guest was a very well to do lady who was going to see the ballet at the O2 arena in Greenwich which is very close to my pad! Carol was the perfect guest although not as into shameless self promotion as I am. I hope to be able to feature crashpadders that stay on this blog.

I have now got 3 more bookings coming up and I am still using the photo of the view as I have not had time to download the photo's yet, I will add them to this post later so that people looking to rent a room in London will have a better idea of what they are getting for their £20!

More to follow.......
